Présentation

Fondé en 1920 par Édouard Lambert, pionnier de l’étude comparative des droits, l'Institut de droit comparé de Lyon porte aujourd’hui le nom de son fondateur. Premier institut universitaire au monde consacré à l’étude des droits étrangers et à la comparaison des droits, il a servi de modèle sur plusieurs continents. Il participe aux programmes les plus novateurs en matière scientifique et pédagogique, par la promotion d’une approche interdisciplinaire et transnationale des études juridiques. Il est rattaché à la Faculté de Droit de l'Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3.

Aujourd’hui, les missions de l’Institut sont les suivantes :

1. Enseignement des droits étrangers et de la méthode comparative, sous forme de diplômes d’université, de cours donnés sur place en langue étrangère, de formations à distance sur Internet et depuis 2004, dans le cadre du Master de recherche en droit privé international et droit comparé délivré par l’Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3.

2. Coordination d’activités de recherche individuelles et collectives, dans le cadre de l’Equipe d’accueil de droit international et comparé de l’Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3 et de réseaux européens et internationaux.

3. Développement et coordination des échanges d’étudiants et d’enseignants de la Faculté de droit de l’Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3.

The Edouard Lambert Institute of Comparative Law, founded in Lyon in 1920, is named after its founder. Edouard Lambert, a pioneer in the field, has set a model that has been imitated in many parts of the world. The Lyon Institute was indeed the first university institute entirely devoted to the study of foreign legal systems and their comparison. The Edouard Lambert Institute of Comparative Law participates in most innovative scientific and pedagogical programmes, promoting an interdisciplinary and transnational approach. It belongs to the Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3 Faculty of Law.

Nowadays, the Institute has a triple task:

(1) The teaching of foreign legal systems and the comparative method, to deliver university diplomas and a new Master in private international and comparative law. The Institute also promotes distance learning on the Internet.

(2) The co-ordination of individual and collective research, within the Research Team in International and Comparative Law of the Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3 and European and international networks.

(3) The development and co-ordination of international exchanges for students and professors of the Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3 Faculty of Law.
